AUTHOR’S NOTES:

Sorry I can’t figure out a way to let ya’ll hear the tune that goes with it, but it’s got kind of an alternative country/Whiskeytown feel to it.

It sure has been a while, man.  It seems like old times.

There wasn't a day that passed me by I didn't think of our old crimes.

Slipping out of trouble's way just as rough as we slipped in.

A couple of saints jugglin' miracles while we balanced out our sins.

The last time that I saw you, you were sayin' your good-byes;

And I swear I saw my life and times flashing past your eyes.

We ran that gauntlet, pushed our luck, from the pan into the fire;

but we always pulled the hat trick out - the noble and the liar.

We leaned on one another while fightin' our way out.

Rarely did see eye-to-eye except for when it'd count.

I called you names, you called my bluffs. Side-by-side in a headlong rush.

I always knew you'd come back around, nice to see I was right.

Welcome back to living's land, nice to see your face;

there were times I thought I saw it, when I was in some other place.

Did you ever hear the words I said when I was talking off to you?

I was never sure you were listenin' when I was tryin' to see this through.

So you know, I gotta ask you, was the knowledge worth the trip?

Higher planes, a duck and feign; how much did you forget?

Do you feel that you belong here now? 'cause we got some work to do.

We may not be as grand as Oz but we'll always see you through.

And now you're standin' in the hallway, just like that time before.

An expression on your face that says you've got no where to go.

Well you may not quite remember but I took you in last time,

A beer, a bed, an ear to lend when you feel you've lost your mind.

Welcome back to living's land, nice to see your face;

there were times I thought I saw it, when I was in some other place.

Did you ever hear the words I said when I was talking off to you?

I was never sure you were listenin' when I was tryin' to see this through.

Take a while, take some Space; we got plenty here to spare.

And when you're ready, come on out - you know that we'll be here.

Like you for me, I stood by you, even when you were gone.

And here I'll stand, once again, to welcome you back home.

Welcome back to living's land, great to see your face;

there were times I wished I could see it, when I was in a darker place.

Did you ever hear the words I said when I was talking off to you?

‘Cause knowin’ you were out there is what helped me see this through.
